WOW. What an experience at Beck’s Hybrids. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious this is so much more than a seed company. It’s a company built on innovation, relationships, faith, culture, and constant improvement.
We had the opportunity to tour the campus with Paul Compton and hear from multiple leaders across the organization. What started as a small livestock farm has grown into the largest family-owned seed brand in the United States with more than 1,100 employees, 7 jets, a helicopter, and farmers traveling from all over the country to experience Beck’s firsthand.
One thing that stood out over and over again: relationships matter.
“The power of relationship building could not be overstated.”
Beck’s shared how their tour program became their most successful sales tool because “seeing is believing.” Every tour guide tells the story differently, creating a genuine experience instead of a scripted presentation.
We also got to see firsthand how innovation drives the company forward. From AI-powered tools like SeedIQ that recommend top hybrid selections for farmers based on their location and needs, to greenhouse operations creating ideal growing environments 16 hours a day, to “Phil the Phenobot” collecting field data — Beck’s is constantly measuring, testing, and improving.
“What you measure is what you improve.”
Their core values — Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, Adaptability, Commitment, and Passion — aren’t just words on a wall. They use them to hire, evaluate, lead, and build culture every single day.
We also heard from Tanner Maxey and Kent Gremel about the incredible variety of careers within the company and the importance of attitude, work ethic, and staying grounded in your identity.
“Don’t get lost chasing who you think people want you to be.”
A huge thank you to the Beck’s team for opening your doors and showing us what it looks like to build a business centered around people, purpose, and progress.
