Our group had the opportunity to visit City Hall and hear from Mayor Tyler Moore about leadership, local government, and the realities of community growth. Mayor Moore, Kokomo’s 35th mayor, shared that many projects people see, like new businesses, parks, and development, require far more than simply “waving a magic wand.” Success often comes through planning, partnerships, zoning, and long-term decision making.

Students also learned how city government impacts everyday life through infrastructure, ordinances, planning commissions, and future growth. From road repairs to business development, it was a great reminder that strong communities are built through service, patience, and people willing to step up and lead. Thank you to Mayor Moore for investing in our students and giving them a behind-the-scenes look at how Kokomo moves forward.
