We heard from Bridges Outreach founder Travis Taflinger about the impact and responsibility of leading a nonprofit. A powerful reminder from the start: nonprofits need great business leaders too. It’s still business… but the mission is different. Every dollar goes back into serving people.
Building a nonprofit isn’t easy. There’s no clear roadmap, and in many ways, you’re figuring it out as you go. But staying aligned with the mission is everything.
Travis shared how his journey wasn’t always headed in this direction. A life-changing mission year in inner-city Chicago shifted everything, opening his eyes, changing his perspective, and ultimately leading to the start of Bridges.
Now, nearly 20 years later, they’ve served 10,000+ kids through mentorship, discipleship, and after-school programs; meeting students where they are, especially those who may not want to go home at the end of the day.
