As we step into second semester, we’re reflecting on some of the voices that helped shape our year. Back in November, we welcomed brothers Connor Sanburn and Nolan Sanburn, both Kokomo natives now living in Birmingham, AL, with different paths, but the same mindset: build something real and stay true to what excites you.
Connor, a 2017 Kokomo CEO alum and now a Community Growth Specialist at Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship, shared his CEO journey. From executing his class’s CEO Summit to launching his own graduation open house video business. His message centered on community and intentional action. “Get excited about what you’re excited about,” and "be intentional about doing something different."
Nolan shared his journey from playing baseball at the University of Arkansas and professionally to building a career in commercial real estate. He spoke candidly about financial freedom, passive income, and the mindset shift sparked by Rich Dad Poor Dad. From investing in assets to building an audience around what you genuinely enjoy, his advice was clear: be authentic, talk about what you care about, and give it time. Two brothers. Two paths. One powerful reminder as we head into semester two: confidence, consistency, and community matter.
