From GM to G.I. Joe. We visited Kokomo Toys & Collectibles, a downtown destination that’s captured the hearts of collectors from all over the country and even beyond.

Co-owner Amber Jordan shared how she and her husband, Todd, turned a childhood hobby into a thriving business. After her and Todd left GM, they decided to go all in; but only after paying everything off first. “It took off a lot faster than anyone thought it would,” Amber told us.

What started as a shop in their home grew quickly; from overflowing rooms to a small storefront, and eventually to the iconic location they’ve now occupied for 15 years on East Sycamore Street (known locally as “Geek Street”).

Today, they buy, sell, and trade toys from estates, collections, and manufacturers, serving a loyal customer base that stretches far beyond Indiana.

Amber reminded us that running your dream business takes serious work:

“It’s a LOT of work. There are no days off.”
