Last week we spent one morning at IU Kokomo diving into the theme of learning.
After a delicious breakfast from Rozzi’s Catering, Chancellor Dr. Mark Canada joined us and was intentional about learning every student’s name…even reciting them all throughout his presentation. His message was clear:
✏️ Do your research. Be confident. Go the extra mile. The little things go a long way.
Dr. Canada reminded us that success starts with curiosity.
“Give yourself a chance to fail. You don’t know what you don’t know.”
He challenged our group to always be learning — to take in information, take notes, review them, and build a foundation that sets you apart.
We also heard from Dr. Chittibabu Govindarajulu, Dean of the School of Business, who encouraged us to pair AI with critical thinking and surround ourselves with people not like us:
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
And from Elizabeth Kirchner in Admissions, we learned that IUK is Indiana’s most affordable 4-year university, with an average class size of just 19 students…truly a community of care.
The takeaway?
Learning isn’t just something that happens in classrooms. It happens in conversations, connections, and the courage to keep asking questions.
