Creativity. Communication. Championship culture.
“A degree is just a checkbox. It’s what you do outside the classroom that counts.”
– David, BSU Student Media
Our visit to Ball State gave us an all-access pass to what it means to build something real — from media to business to leadership.
We toured CCIM with Matt Lowe, met with Jennifer Palilonis at EMDD where we learned how students are creating immersive museum exhibits and interactive storytelling experiences.
At Sports Link, we stepped into the control room and saw where student storytellers produce national broadcasts and content for NCAA teams. We even met a fellow CEO alum from a program in Illinois!
One highlight? A behind-the-scenes look at the David Letterman Learning Lab, where storytelling and innovation collide. The space features immersive, interactive exhibits — and even the original bridge set piece from The Late Night Show, salvaged from a NYC dumpster by a BSU alum.
At the Miller College of Business, Candy Dodd led us through a LEGO challenge on communication and collaboration.
And to wrap it up, Women's Volleyball Coach Kelli Miller reminded us:
“If you want everyone to like you, don’t be a leader.”
“It’s all about trust, fit, and doing hard things with the right people.”
