CEO Business Visits

Visiting Rhum Academy

Gary Rhum
In 2008 Gary started Rhum Academy as "A community of musicians who support each other." They current have 18 instructors, students from 4 to 72 years of age and from Rochester, Lafayette and northside of Indianapolis. Super fun moment: our own Andrea Peterson and fascilitator, Morgan Young, had an impromptu jam with Gary. You never know what to expect in Kokomo CEO!

Meet Brooklyn Hayes

I am a senior at Western High School and involved in the Grey T-shirt club, and Nat'l Honor Society. Outside of school, I am heavily involved with a competitive dance company in Indianapolis. I also enjoy spending time volunteering in the community. After graduating, I hope to attend Butler University and major in some aspect of business. The CEO class has already taught me so much in the short time I have been here and I cannot wait to see how far it will take me throughout the course of the year.

Kokomo Opalescent Glass: New Ownership

Jeff Shaw, CEO
New owner and CEO, Jeff Shaw, is just nine weeks into his new venture and his excitement about it was palpable. We appreciated his down-to-earth and approachable demeanor. He was able to aquire KOG through a business broker, a new term for us; it's effectively a realtor for businesses. Currently they had pallettes ready to ship to Japan, Russia and various U.S. cities. We were fascinated by this 1888 business functioning in the same place in much the same way for 129 years. It will be interesting to see the direction Jeff Shaw leads this unique business!

Get Involved in CEO

The manner in which the CEO program is funded is critical to its success and sustainability. All funds raised are used exclusively for the Kokomo CEO program. To participate, a 3-year $1000 per year commitment is required. Business Partner Investors commitments of time and energy are also critical to the program's success. Contributions may be tax deductible, as our organization is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

When we are not touring local businesses, we need a place to host the class. During that time, the 15 CEO students and their Facilitator would meet at your site where they would also have guest speakers and guests from the community attend. Hosting requires a facility with internet access and adequately accommodates up to 20 people.

We are looking for people to share real-life stories about the concepts of running a business, from strategic thinking, product development to marketing, and cash flow management. Also, sharing your personal successes and failures are what recent classes have enjoyed the most.

If you are interested in participating in any of the above programs, use our contact form to send us a message
